Qualifications

I've taught both credit and continuing education ESL classes at the local community colleges since 1997. I'm experienced in all levels of grammar, conversation, reading, writing, and pronunciation. ESL classrooms are very diverse, so I've had extensive exposure to students from all over the world.

I've been the lead instructor for the ESL introductory level courses at a community college and my responsibilities included overseeing the operation of these introductory levels and advising new instructors.

I've taught on-site Workforce Development courses at local companies and have worked on English proficiency testing teams for academic and corporate environments.

Most of my teaching has been with adults, but I have tutored several children in ESL.

Comments

I teach in a relaxed, informal environment. Students learning English need to feel comfortable and confident to achieve success.I have an interactive approach and the student is very engaged in the learning process.

I can create a personalized course of study based on the needs and desires of the student so that the class becomes very comprehensive in reading, writing, grammar, etc. I can also provide necessary instruction solely based on what the student wants but will provide my opinion if warranted.

I've received excellent evaluations from supervisors and students.
