Personal Statement

I am an educator because there is no other profession in which I can so certainly have a positive impact on the lives of others. I have always accepted any challenge that will both broaden my knowledge and help me share what I know with my students. As a result, I am uniquely qualified to work with nearly any student in a wide variety of subjects.

I see the relationship I seek between teacher and student as an integral part of my success as an educator. I believe that developing a strong rapport with students is one of the most fundamental and important steps toward successful teaching. It allows me to understand my students and their educational needs, and makes it possible for me to best tailor my approach to ensure their success.

Students who are having trouble with any subject risk losing confidence, losing interest, and therefore losing the excitement that learning should always provide. In many cases, a person outside of the student's circle can help him or her look at things in a new way and make what was once confusing become clear. This, I believe, is one of the many strengths of the tutoring profession. It is my goal to expand students’ horizons and use my many skills to make learning accessible and fun.

I particularly enjoy working in the one-on-one setting that tutoring affords. It allows me to truly address a student’s understanding and to set a pace that will guarantee improvement.

If you have any questions regarding my experiences, skills, or teaching philosophies, please do not hesitate to contact me.
