Personal Statement

I have taught high school mathematics, physics and chemistry from basic to advanced placement levels. I have been successful in helping students grasp difficult concepts.
From simple Algebraic factorization, graphing quadratics, completing the square to plotting and understanding the nature of higher level polynomials. Helping students understand that related rates problems in calculus are not solved by "cranking the derivative handle" but by truly understanding the algebra and trigonometry these problems are based on. Helping students understand the dynamics and connection of a car on an inclined bend and an orbiting space shuttle . Or helping students understand that determining the point of equilibrium of a chemical reaction cannot be found on the screen of a programmable calculator.

Making sense of the difficult and seemingly abstract has been my passion. Seeing my students reach their academic potential, while having fun and enjoying the experience and pleasure of learning, has been extremely rewarding.
