Qualifications

I graduated from Scripps College with a B.A. in biology and chemistry in 2004, and have had extensive experience with both one-on-one tutoring and classroom teaching ever since. In particular, I have worked as an SAT tutor for Ivy West, and as a classroom teacher at a special-needs' school. I have had experience with all levels of math from grade 4 to AP Calculus, and have had experience with biology up to AP and with chemistry up to AP.

Personal Statement

I take a very hands-on, individualized approach to tutoring, working with a student's individual learning style, strengths, and weaknesses. I tend to be very Socratic and ask a lot of questions, and frequently students will get frustrated when I refuse to spoon-feed them the answers. However, I firmly believe that in the long run it is much more beneficial for the student to find the answer himself/herself, and to take an active role in the learning process.
