The teacher that suggested that was the one that was suppoesd to help with tutoring but stopped w/o my knowledge. She also waited to the end of last year to tell me he is way below grade level. I am looking for a math tutor for my 8 year old daughter. She was adopted from China at just over a year. She is enrolled in the Mandarin Immersion Program at Woodstock Elementary School in Portland. Her Chinese teacher is very strict and requires students to use rote memorization for basic math fundamentals. My daughter does not learn well in rote. This year they are to have mastered memorizing mulitplication tables through 9 in Mandarin. They are doing division and have introduced fractions. She is meeting benchmark in the English math instruction. I am looking for someone who can make learning math enjoyable and meaningful! I don't want my daugher to hate math! Next year the majority of math concepts will be taught in Mandarin. Next years teacher is less strict but the tendency is to teach to the brightest and let the rest struggle. I am looking for esteem building and I would love for her to have a sense of mastery and confidence going into the third grade!

I haven't taken an English class for over 23 years. I'm currently taking classes on-lilne at Embry Riddle and one of them is English Composition and Literature 122. So far I've done okay but occassionally I run into a real wall and I don't have one on one interaction in an on-line environment. I'm looking for someone that I can send an occassional email to that can help me get over the occassional walls and maybe proof read a couple of papers. So far I'm doing "B" work on my papers so that is less of a problem then the mini-exams. How would you structure your fee's? I would assume that most of my questions would take less then an hour each time I needed help so is there a minimum for each time I contact you or would I prepay for services and we agree how much time you deduct for each "session" you help with?
