I am retired, translate Japanese novels into English for publication (albeit, only one annually), and live with my family in suburban Seattle. After 5 years as a Naval Aviator, I took Intensive Japanese and related studies in Tokyo for three years. And for the next 40 years, I worked in Tokyo first in market research/translation, then as an aviation/defense journalist and — for most of my career — in market research and business development for U.S. automotive and high-tech companies in Japan
