I have 15 years of teaching Chinese to American kids, including 11 years working at St. Catherine’s Upper School as Faculty & Chinese Teacher.The 4 skills, listening, speaking, reading, writing, are balanced quite well. My students don’t think Chinese is hard to learn. They say it’s just unique and different from alphabet language, and it’s fun to learn! Chinese language is the carrier of seven-thousand-year Chinese culture, not just a communication skill.
