The only subject that came easily to me in high school was Spanish, and to a lesser degree, French. When I started college, I was a Spanish major. That year I won a Travel Fellowship which required me to spend 6 weeks in a foreign country. I did not have the funds necessary to supplement the small fellowship, so the college got me a job at a Girl Scout camp in Puerto Rico. It was love at first sight – living with people who spoke this lovely language, and were eager to help me progress in it
