I am a linguist who specializes in intercultural communication. For two years I taught English as a second language courses at the University of Northern Iowa. I have taught students from 24 different countries in areas of reading, writing, and listening and speaking. My teaching philosophy revolves around authentic materials, learning in context, and student inquiry. My hobbies include playing mandolin and singing folk and bluegrass, learning about the natural world, and adventure sport
